Class size is extremely limited — only 6 Scouts may participate. Early registration is highly encouraged.

The Dog Care Merit Badge offers Scouts a fun and meaningful opportunity to learn how to be responsible and knowledgeable dog owners. Through six engaging sessions, Scouts will explore canine health, training, grooming, feeding, safety, and the lifelong commitment of caring for a dog. This hands-on course is perfect for Scouts who want to better understand their canine companions while practicing real skills with their own dog.

Workshop Schedule:
Session 1: Tuesday, December 23 | 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Session 2: Tuesday, December 30 | 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Session 3: Tuesday, January 6 | 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Session 4: Tuesday, January 13 | 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Session 5: Tuesday, January 20 | 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Session 6: Tuesday, January 27 | 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM

Important Notes:

  • Scouts must bring their dog for Sessions 2–6.

  • Sessions 2–6 will be held outdoors, so please dress appropriately for the weather.

  • Parent or guardian attendance is mandatory for all sessions.

  • For Session 1, Scouts should bring a notebook and writing utensils for taking notes.

What to Expect:
Throughout this multi-session workshop, Scouts will:

  • Learn about proper dog nutrition, grooming, and health care.

  • Practice safe handling techniques and positive reinforcement training.

  • Understand canine body language and behavior.

  • Explore what it means to be a responsible dog owner in the home and in the community.

  • Complete all Dog Care Merit Badge requirements with hands-on experience.

This unique merit badge gives Scouts the chance to strengthen the bond with their dog while learning skills that will last a lifetime. With only 6 spots available, we encourage families to secure a space as soon as registration opens.
